- Michael: Welcome + why we record this video + briefly core concept
- We record this video to introduce you to our new, 3-month online training called “Integrating somatic techniques in therapy”, starting on the 14th of September
- This is a training during which you can learn the core concepts of somatic therapy, gain effective somatic tools and strategies, and integrate them into your therapy practice.
- A 55-hour training with 17 workshops and small groups and lots of somatic experiential explorations, for you to be able to bring somatic techniques to your clients right after finishing the training.
- Michael: Intro myself & Tisha is an IFS & CranioSacral therapist and a co-founder of IFS Vermont a co-host of IFS Talks, Tisha is a Prog Dir for this program bringing it all together
- Michael: Tisha, can you say something about our “why” - what challanges and needs of mental health professionals we are aiming to address with our program?
- Tisha: “Why” - what problems we want to solve with this program
- The challange of introducing somatic strategies in therapy practice (clients often hesitant, staying in their heads)
- The challange of using somatic techniques in online therapy
- The misconception that MHP need to master an entire modality before including the body in therapy
- Tisha: Michael, it was a long creative process for us to design a program that will explore ways of addressing these challanges. Can you say about how this program will bring the solutions MHPs are looking for?
- Michael: Core concept
- First step: Teaching trauma theory and the common core ideas of somatic therapies - importance of basic understanding
- Second step: Introducing specific techniques and tools from various modalities - those adaptable in various settings
